SQUEAR (Sebastian Voigt) has started as DJ in Ilmenau 1996.
In the beginning he has organized together with some friends various small events in and around Ilmenau. Some years later he has founded together with some other people the booking and event agency ‘unruhigenaechte’. The crew has organized various smaller and bigger events in Thuringia with artists like DJ Hell, Cristian Vogel, Neil Landstrumm, Subhead, Eva Cazal, Cora S., House of Fix. He has played on many of these events. So he has played as DJ at the Sonnemondsterne festival, Blaumachen Open Air, ‘Alte Brauerei’ Ilmenau , ‘Altes Kino’ Römhild, Klangwerk Ost. Furthermore there where gigs at the squat in Erfurt and ‘Prezissionswerk’ Espenhain/Leipzig.
After his move to Berlin he has played there on some smaller events, like in Lauschangriff or at Köpi.
Over the years the style was always changing, beginning with Acid, over Techno and Breakbeat up to Drum’nBass, Junge and Breakcore. But in general the style was always experimental with broken beats.

Producing own tracks has started in the end of 90s with his first own hardware (Quasimidi 309 and Microwave XT). After some time he added a MPC and bassstation to this setup, but with Ableton 5 he has sold most of his equipment, because the sound capabilities and workflows of music software has much improved. It’s difficult to describe the style of his productions. It is anywhere between Techno, Breakbeat influenced by IDM. Various tracks where released on compilations, like on neuhaus13, Black Hole and Disordered2006. Together with his wife Melanie Flug he has released the ‘Hidden Hum’ album on kugk musique.
